John Winston Ono Lennon (Liverpool, 9 ottobre 1940 – New York, 8 dicembre 1980) è stato un chitarrista, compositore e cantante inglese. In un sonaggio della BBC è arrivato ottavo nella classifica dei 100 più importanti britannici di tutti i tempi. Guida invece la classifica dei cantautori di maggior successo della storia inglese.
E' stato uno dei quattro componenti dei Beatles. E' lui, insieme a Paul McCartney ad aver composto la maggior parte delle canzoni del gruppo. Dopo lo scioglimento dei Beatles ha proseguito con successo la sua carriera come musicista solita. Fu assassinato a New York l'8 dicembre 1980 da uno psicopatico che si è dichiarato suo fan.
La canzone Woman è dedicata alla seconda moglia Yoko Ono.
